Did you spot a rat and get too involved, only to find out you're now stuck with them in this seemingly endless rat king? they're everywhere, really. there's nowhere in eorzea where you won't find rats. and these ones.. well, they just open up a tavern wherever they end up.

They've moved yet again! Currently set up in a cove in la noscea, the rat's cove is a tavern and general hub. Same venue, same people, new location. Come by, grab a drink, a bowl of stew, and relax for the night. Maybe do some trade, barter, buy goods, or just tag along for the good conversation and chaotic shenanigans. there's cozy seating.. and who doesn't love sitting in a moldy dewy cave, anwyays? If you're looking for some quick ways to make gil or find new connections, there's a quest board with various postings! (in discord! it's a cozy lil group, feel free to join <3).

These builds no longer exist in game, as the narrative of the venue network has moved away from them, but here's a lil showcase so you know its history.
The rat's dugout, where it all began...
The Rat's Dugout was a traveler's rest and trading hub located in an old abandoned building within the outskirts of both The Black Shroud and Thanalan, in The Lower Paths. The space was reclaimed by L'aith and repurposed into a rest stop and hub for travelers to rest in and wandering merchants to set up shop at.HOWEVER, A lot of run ins with Wailers and licensing, like you ever need those, has caused them to pick up as much as they could and move down to Thanalan, which is why the current location is in the oasis. This channel is simply an archive of the previous build, to keep the narrative logged somewhere

The back segment of the dugout, an unruly, shady area that many don't even know exists, yet those who do know exactly what it's used for: crime. be it dealing drugs, making not so honorable contracts, or connecting with like-minded individuals, not many venture into this segment of the establishment, but those you meet back there and sure to be an experience. a pleasant one? probably not, unless you're there for the same reasons.They have since relocated north and are based out of the rat's den instead.
The Oasis Bar
The owners then turned nomadic and set up in the middle of old ruins at the heart of an oasis for a while. Same venue, same people, new location. This was a more temporary setup before they moved over to La Noscea.
The Rat's Den
A lil thieves' den/hideout that's been set up in a hidden segment of Central Coerthas' Daniffen Pass, it's a small haven tucked away from the snowstorms outside the pass, and kept warm by the hot springs supplying it with life in stark contrast to the lifeless snow plains that it's located in the heart of.What happened there, though? Anything but pretty. Crime; be it dealing drugs, making not so honorable contracts, or connecting with like-minded individuals. It was previously based in The Back Alleys, but relocated up North when the Dugout was abandoned. As for now, it is currently unoccupied. But the cave can be reopened at any time.

-Alcoholic Beverages: beer, cider, mead, ales, wine, spirits, you name it. the bar's usually pretty stocked with various brews and mixes. just ask what's available that day, L'aith likes to test out new homebrews pretty frequently, and makes a lot of his own moonshine.-Non-Alcoholic Beverages: water, juices, tea and coffee, and freshly acquired milk now that there's a lot of herders passing by. want your own mix? ask for what you have in mind, see if it's in stock and let the bartenders get creative!
Food
-Perpetual Stew: A fresh start! They just moved and had to reset the stew, so this one's pretty fresh. Relatively new, yet it'll do. The flavours haven't developed to be that rich yet, but give it time! It only gets better from here.-Fish Skewers: Fresh catches are usually cooked in skewers over hot plates, new fish now that they're by an oasis, too. Ask for a few if you want 'em, head and all.-Meat Stick: There's always meat being cooked on the campfire. grab some. what's the animal? i don't know, do i look like the one who hunted it? (Mostly aldgoats since they've moved down South.)-What's Available?: not all ingredients are tossed right into the stew. plenty of merchants drop by and provide new fresh ingredients each opening, be it produce or poached meats. perhaps you want something lighter, ask what's in stock that day.
